Almost any poker game involves at least one round of betting. In most poker games, players bet into a central pot, and the pot is split between the players who have the highest hand. A straight is five cards in sequential order. Some games have wild cards, which allow players to make five of a kind.

The rules of poker vary, but in general, players are required to place a small bet, called an ante, before the game begins. An ante usually varies between one and five dollars, and is set by the table. During the game, players can choose to fold, bet, or check. In some games, players are required to make a forced bet, which can be a blind bet, a pre-determined bet, or a bet that is determined by the cards.

The first round of betting usually starts with the dealer. The dealer will deal two cards to each player. One player will be required to make the first bet, and the dealer will be obligated to make the second. Players may choose to bet, raise, or check. Players may fold if they do not have a good hand, or they may be bluffing. If a player folds, the hand is discarded, and the player may no longer compete for the pot.

The second round of betting occurs after the flop. Players must either check, raise, or fold, and this round is usually played clockwise. After the second round, the player with the highest hand collects the pot, while the player with the lowest hand is eliminated. The third round of betting occurs after the turn and river.
